Navy Dept., 1873, 1¢ ultramarine (O35), horizontal pair, quartered cork cancels, "Washington, D.C., Dec 18" c.d.s., used to make up the 5¢ U.P.U. rate on a cover addressed to a U.S. Marine on station in Brooklyn, N.Y. with a 3¢ green (158), tied by cork cancel with a Chestertown, N.Y. c.d.s., Brooklyn duplex Dec 16 when the cover was sent for forwarding to the Navy Dept. in Washington where the 1¢ Navy pair was added and the cover was redirected to the U.S.S. Omaha, Panama, "U.S. of Colombia"; one 1¢ creased where it was originally folded over the top of the envelope, both 1¢ with perf flaws, Fine.
