New Brunswick 1851, 3d dark red (1a), pair, wonderful color with large margins on three sides, left stamp touched on one side, dividing scratch in margin between pair and right stamp crossed by filing fold which just cracks the surface, tied by oval grid on folded letter to New York, showing "New Brunswick/VR 1851" c.d.s. in blue and straight line "Paid" handstamp in red adjacent, backstamped "St. John N.B./NO 27 1851", Very Fine and early use of the three pence stamp.
