Estimate 500 - 750

Marsh, a famed paleontologist, was head of Yale's Peabody Museum. He and E.D. Cope waged what were referred to as the "Great Bone Wars" in the late 19th century, each continually topping the other with their constant discoveries of dinosaur remains. He is responsible for naming the Brontosaurus, Stegosaurus and Triceratops fossils. The "boxes 1-17" referred to in Marsh's docketing, no doubt refers to 17 boxes of dinosaur bones.
