1908, 2¢ carmine, Brinkerhoff type I perfs (344), vertical combination strip of 5. Sedalia, Mo. oval cancels. Type II holes trimmed at top. Very Fine and perhaps unique.

This piece was probably used as a trial of the 2-hole type II perforations after the 4-hole type I perforations proved unsatisfactory. It was then apparently salvaged by a Brinkerhoff employee in Sedalia and used for postage on a registered letter.
