1861, 5¢ orange brown, type II (30), fresh and well centered, a few pulled perfs. at base, cancelled by open grid on 1861 folded letter to Hong Kong, China, red "New-York/Br. Pkt./Aug 30" exchange office postmark, endorsed "overland mail/via Marseilles" with manuscript "2/-" due, red London transit backstamp and Hong Kong /OC 24, 61" arrival backstamp, split along bottom fold, reinforced with tape that is beginning to bleed through, otherwise Very Fine, a rare usage of this scarce stamp.
