Jan 26 1858, forwarding c.d.s. ties 3¢ Dull Red (11), margins to cutting, attached with wax wafer after readdress to Murphys Camp, 10¢ green, type II (14), position 80R, large to huge margins, tied by light "Burlington Me. Dec 17" c.d.s. on cover to Sonora, Cal.; Very Fine. The presence of faint all-over grayish black ink on the 3¢ stamp, and the need for a wafer both suggest this stamp had been used before, though our estimate is based on the forwarding usage, which is uncommon when paid in full, and the 10¢ stamp itself, which is an Extremely Fine gem.
