Central Point M.T. Jan. 23, partly struck balloon-style forwarding postmark on cover from Shasta Cal. to Central Point, redirected to St. Paul with manuscript "Forwd 3", 10¢ green type III (15), ample to large margins, tied by "Shasta Cal. Dec. 2" c.d.s.; cover faults including back almost separated, stamp with light diagonal crease, still a Fine usage.

Although sent to a M.R. Merrell, the 1856 enclosure datelined Shasta Dec. 1 is addressed to Mr. Sungins. It reads (in part): "My Dear Mr. Sungins I blush when I say it you are a pretty feller aint you promised to come here and not do it Now Sungins I'll tell you what it is I am not agoing to keep myself virtuous any longer if I don't take somebody into my room to night…I am fat as a buck California is the place to live" etc. The letter is signed "Mrs. Sungins."
