1847, 5¢ red brown (1), two covers, each with pen cancelled single in a matching late shade, each close margins to slightly in, on a pair of matching envelopes from Southington, Ct. to a Miss Mary Hudson in Boston, one postmarked Feb 12 Southington c.d.s. in purple with matching large "5" and "Paid" handstamps, other with same c.d.s. in green, also with the large "5", rare and very fine exhibition pair.

THESE ARE THE ONLY TWO RECORDED 1847 COVERS FROM SOUTHINGTON, WHICH RECEIVED NO 1847 STAMPS OF EITHER DENOMINATION.

Expertization: each with 1999 P.S.E. Certificates.

Both covers have received negative P.F. certificates in the past but we concur with the two 1999 P.S.E. certificates describing them as genuine. They are, however, being sold on their own merits and are not returnable.
