Jones in Wash., D.C., letter regards a private who deserted while on march during the Seminole War and has rejoined his company in Tampa, claiming he was pardoned on order from Gen. Gaines, Very Fine, interesting content, the earliest recorded example of the type XIV postmark with "free" handstamp.
