Towson, Paymaster Gen. in Wash., D.C., manuscript "on official service", letter is requesting the paymaster to have pay available for the sender's family in Boston, Very Fine. Estimate 200 - 300
Fort Meade was in existence from Dec 9, 1849 to 1857 and was named after Lt. George Meade who later became the victorious General at Gettysburg.
