Samoa, 1914 (3 Sept.) ½d on 3pf to 5s on 5m (SG 101-109, 111-114), including the rare "1 Shilling." on 1m, with two additional ½d on 3pf, the three high values marginal and the 2s on 2m with part of additional surcharge in the sheet margin, tied by "Apia/ 26 JA 15" c.d.s. on local envelope, paper "Opened by Censor. Apia, Samoa" label tied by "Passed by Censor" handstamp, two light filing folds cross sheet margins of two stamps but do not affect the stamps themselves. Very Fine and phenomenal franking. Michel 1-9, 10II-13.

Expertization: 1963 Philatelic Foundation Certificate not noting the rare "1 Shilling." variety.

The first printing of the 1sh on 1m consisted of 100 stamps erroneously reading "1 Shillings." The error was corrected on the second and third printings, but those printings consisted of only twenty and fifteen copies, respectively.
