Williams to replace the current ordnance storekeeper at the Baton Rouge arsenal, the incombent storekeeper having "left the post without complying with the conditions on which a leave of absence was granted by the depart…as a consequence of age & infirmities…caused in no doubt by intemperance…", signed "Z. Taylor Bt.Br.Gen./U.S.A.", addressed in his hand on integral leaf "Hon. John Bell, Secretary of War, Washington City" carried most likely by military courier, docketed May 17; minor contemporary ink smearing, Fine.
