Revenue, 1871 Second Issue, $200 blue, black & red (R132), choice centering with the four sheet margins and full imprints at sides, beautiful rich colors and a finely detailed impression. Full o.g., neat manuscript "E.C. July 7th 1872" cancel. An Extremely Fine gem.

THIS IS THE UNIQUE FULL SHEET MARGINS EXAMPLE, ARGUABLY THE FINEST EXAMPLE OF THE $200 "SMALL PERSIAN RUG" IN EXISTENCE.

Expertization: 1986 P.F. Certificate.

This stamp initiated by Erastus Corning, Jr. was purchased, along with a $500 and $50 stamp to pay taxes in the will of Erastus Corning, Sr. who died April 9, 1872. The stamps were not applied to the document but kept with it and remained in the family for 113 years, coming on the Philatelic market in 1985.

According to the Kingsley census there are only 12 examples that qualify as sound and Very Fine. This is census #5-15.
