1872 Oct 23 Yokohama to Mass. via San Francisco, cover with blue "Forwarded by / Walsh, Hall & Co. Yokohama" double-oval handstamp on reverse addressed to noted poet H. W. Longfellow (1807-1882), bearing 10¢ brown (150) cancelled by Yokohama cork, carried by the P.M.S.S. Japan leaving Yokohama on Oct. 23, 1872 and arriving into San Francisco on Nov. 14, entered U.S. mails with "San Francisco Nov 15" double-circle datestamp; minor edge fault repairs, Very Fine and choice.
