Texas Day of Sucession Usage, "centreville tex. mar 2" c.d.s. in red with second strike tying 3¢ dull red (26) on folded cover to "spartenburgh c.h., s.c.", enclosure is dated mar. 1, 1861, reduced at left and most of enclosure removed, stamp with short perfs at left, fine. the texas secession convention of 1861 passed the ordinance of secession on february 1, 1861. the ordinance called for a popular vote to ratify the same on february 23rd and became effective on march 2, 1861. The only recorded usage on the texas day of secession. unlisted in the kaplan census..
