1873, 10¢ brown (161), cancelled by "Washington D.C. Oct 8" duplexed cork to the US Consul General in Paris, France, manuscript "W.T. Sherman" signature and Headquarters Army of the United States official business corner card, red New York and London transits, red "PD" in oval, 10¢ direct mail rate, Very Fine. The Civil War General, William T. Sherman, was promoted to the grade of full General and given command of the entire U.S. army from Mar 8, 1869 to Nov 1, 1883 by President Grant.
