1883, 2¢ red brown (210), tied by "New York Jul 22, 1884" duplex to Alphonso Taft, US Minister to Russia, letter underpaid and marked due 15 centimes in N.Y., blue crayon "12", forwarded to Vienna, Austria, various Russian transits on front and reverse, Remington typewriter corner card and type written address, couple tiny tears, Fine. Aphonso Taft was the father of President William Taft. He served as Secretary of War in 1876, Attorney General 1876-77, U.S. minister to Austria 1882-84, and U.S. minister to Russia 1885-86.
