Liberia 1841 (Apr 7) letter from Bassa Cove, datelined folded letter from Louis Sheridan to Ben Coates in Philadelphia, Pa., red "New York Jul 1" c.d.s. and matching "ship" handstamp struck twice, red manuscript rating and "Care of Captain Taylor, Brig.", letter is addressed to the colonization office explaining his attitude and actions in political colony fights and his antipathy toward actions of the Liberian Mission and Conference, and its tactics with the natives, Fine and interesting political content. Louis Sheridan emigrated to Liberia arriving February 1838 as a farmer.
