Liberia 1841 (Sep 16) letter from Bassa Cove, datelined folded letter from Louis Sheridan to Ben Coates, merchant in Philadelphia, Pa., red "New York Dec 10" c.d.s. and matching "ship" handstamp, red manuscript "27" rating, letter advises on the death of Governor Buchanan and that he places blame on the tactics of certain missions that more or less buy colonists instead of converting natives, and directly quoting that the natives "will not love America's man god no longer", Very Fine. Govenor Buchanan passed away on Sep 3, 1841 at the age of 33 from a fever.
