Switzerland Basel, 1845 Dove 2½rp black, crimson & bright blue (3L1), first printing showing shifted red print, gorgeous rich colors and crisp embossing placing the dove into lovely relief large margins on three sides with sheet margin at left cut into at right, neat "Basel/27 December 184_" c.d.s. in red. Two small thins and light central horizontal and vertical creases, nevertheless a highly collectible example of this popular and evocative classic stamp. Michel 1. Zumstein 8.
