1862 (May 28) Albany, N.Y. to Geneva, Switzerland, c.d.s. duplex with grid cancellation tying 30¢ orange (71) and 5¢ buff (67) on folded letter with printed Albany Institute letterhead depicting the Institute building, magenta "12" credit, red "London JU 12 '62" transit, "Calais 13 Juin 62" transit with red ovaled "PD"; Very Fine and attractive franking; intended 35¢ Prussian mail rate, but accepted into the French mail system.

Expertization: 1988 P.F. Certificate.

The enclosed letter from the Albany Institute mentions that the society has received frequent contributions from the Societé de Physque et d' Histoire Naturelle in Geneva, Switzerland, and as a token of their appreciation they are sending through the Smithsonian a volume entitled
Proceedings of the Commissioners of Indian Affairs.
