AN EXTRAORDINARY EXAMPLE OF THE RARE "F" RELIEF PERFORATED TYPE IC WITH WIDE SPACING.

Expertization: 1986 P.F. Certificate.

Provenance: Drucker

Type Ic is similar to type Ia in that the frame line is broken at the top and there are full plumes and ball ornaments at the bottom. The chief difference is that on type Ic the bottom right plume and ball are not quite complete. Both types exist only on stamps printed from plate 4, but the type Ic is found in only eight or nine positions, and only two of those, positions 91 and 96R, "F" reliefs from the bottom row, are considered "pure" type Ic; the rest were caused by burnishing of the plate prior to going to press. Examples are exceedingly rare with perforations clear of the key design elements at both the top and the bottom.
