1857 (Jun. 22) New Orleans La. to Brest, France, blue folded letter with blue merchants handstamp, bearing 5¢ red brown (12) horizontal strip of three, excellent color, ample to huge margins showing part of adjacent stamp at right, tied by "New Orleans La. Jun 22 1857" c.d.s. and red "Boston 'Paid 12' Jul 1" exchange office c.d.s., carried on the Cunard Line steamer Europa, which departed Boston on July 1 and arrived at Liverpool on July 11, black "Boston Br. Pkt. Jul 1" backstamp, French "Et. Unis Serv. Br. A. C. 13 Juin 57" entry c.d.s., reverse with a French transit and "Brest 16 Juil. 57" arrival c.d.s.; Extremely Fine.
