1857 (Jun. 30) New Orleans La. to Brest, France, blue folded letter with blue merchants handstamp, bearing 5¢ red brown (12) three singles, partly overlapped, each with mostly large to huge margins, tied by "New Orleans La. Jun 30 1857" c.d.s., red "New York 'Paid 12' Jul 8" exchange office c.d.s., carried on the Cunard Line steamer Europa, which departed New York on July 8 and arrived at Liverpool on July 17, French "Et. Unis Serv. Br. A. C. 18 Juil 57" entry c.d.s. in red, reverse with a French transit and "Brest 21 Juil. 57" arrival c.d.s.; the right stamp tone spots, refolded at left, Very Fine.
