1856, 5¢ red brown, relief D (12), horizontal strip of three. Ample margins to just touching at bottom of right stamp, rich color on bright paper. Cancelled by two strikes Wellsboro, Pa. c.d.s. Left stamp tiny thin speck in margin at top edge (above projection) which could be trimmed. Very Fine.

This strip came from a five-times domestic cover owned by Henry Gibson (from the famous Ward sale where it brought $400) and at a later date was made into an attractive on-piece strip (which accompanies).
