1812 (2 Oct.) folded letter from Moscow the The Haag (1.12), postmarked "No. II/Grande Armée" straightline with transit postmark "Déb 119/La Haye" on reverse, manuscript "18" corrected to "8" (décimes) for a distance of 1200-1400km; somewhat soiled, Fine.

This letter was first missent to Den Haag (Holland) before finding it's way to La Haye (Dept. Bouches et de La Meuse). The letter reads in part "This city of Moscow is considerably like Paris" and tells of all the towns and villages around Moscow being totally burned.
