1870 (17/29 Nov.) folded letter from Odessa to Montpellier via Vienna (4.12), bearing 1865 30k and 1866 1k (4) cancelled Odessa c.d.s., red oval "Frankirovano" and French entry c.d.s. (7.12), black "A./ P.D." handstamp, Very Fine. Sent prepaid via Austria to avoid delays caused by the Franco-Prussian War. The rate to France via Austria was 6k higher than the 28k rate via Prussia.
