1750 (Feb. 12) Annapolis, Md. to Edinburgh, England, datelined folded letter from Alexander Malcolm, an important Scottish mathematician and music theorist, carried by ship to England, London "9 / MA" Bishop mark and manuscript "6" rating, crossed out and re-rated "In 1N6" twice; additional ink and light soiling, Fine, a very scarce Colonial Maryland usage.

The letter includes discussion of "Unappropriated Lands being sold" in "The Jerseys" including a rare early reference to the Pine Barrens, "…what they call good Land and pine Land (i.e. Barren Land, upon which no Timber but pines grow) such being of very little value, as they are incapable of no improvement Either for grain or pasture…".
