1838 (Apr. 8) Fort Towson, Indian Territory to Boston, Mass., Choctow Nation, datelined folded letter bearing "Fort Towson Ark. Apr 8" c.d.s. with matching "Paid" handstamp and "25" manuscript rating, letter from Lt. Col. Josiah H. Voss who was active in the transfer of Indians, to his sister, the letter refers to the continuation of "Florida (Seminole) War" and that sender would have to go there; recent enforcements, he has 250 men and that shortly 50 will leave for Fort Gibson; and refers to navigation of Red River improving with the arrival of a steamboat from New Orleans; Very Fine, a scarce postmark on a letter with interesting content.
