1847, 5¢ dark brown (1a), large margins to just in at upper left, magnificent color and strong early impression, light crease, tied by pen cancel on buff envelope to New York with clear red "Wallingford Vt. Sep. 30" c.d.s. in an uncommon typeface, additionally struck out with a large manuscript "X" that appears to be in the same ink as the one on the stamp, Fine and rare usage.
