Confederacy 1861, 10¢ dark blue (2b), Paterson print, position 25 with malformed "O" in "Postage", clear to large margins, tied on piece by Warrington, Fla. c.d.s., Oct. 7 (1862), Very Fine. This cancel was applied in Pollard, Ala. where the Warrington postmaster had fled after the fall of the Pensacola-Warrington area to the Union in May of 1862. He continued to service army mail in Pollard (just across the state line from Pensacola) using the Warrington postmark until at least November of 1863.
