Imboden, John Daniel (1823-1895), C.S.A. Brigadier General, commanded a cavalry brigade at Gettysburg, ALS, "J.D. Imboden", 3pp, 7½ x 9¾ Richmond, Feb 28, 1866. Letter to General Gaspar Tochman in New York apparently regarding Tochman's Virginia Board of Immigration, where Tochman was trying to attract his fellow Polish immigrants to settle in Virginia; tell of try to drum up support for the effort; slightly trimmed with last leaf affixed to an album page, Very Fine.

Tochman never actually rose above the rank of Colonel in the Confederate army, but he aspired to the rank of Brigadier General and apparently granted it to himself after the war.
