Kearney, Phillip (1815-1862), U.S. Army Brig. General, killed after Second Bull Run when he accidentally rode into enemy lines at Chantilly. Wardates ALS, "Phill", 4pp (2 sides on one folded sheet), 5 x 8, Harrison's Landing (Va.), July 29, 1862. Writes to "My Dear John", mostly sharing his feeding about a mutual acquaintance name Watts; signed vertically on first pages (due to lack of space on last) "with best regards, yours, Phill"; two halves separated, otherwise very fine.
