Reagan, John H. (1818-1905), CSA postmaster general (1861-1865), U.S. Representative from Texas (1857-61, 1875-87), DS, 1p (2 sides), 8 x 12½ Washington, D.C., c. 1883. Handwritten Congressional recommendation to President Arthur that he appoint on H.D. Money to the post of U.S. postmaster general, signed by Reagan and 32 other Congressional Democrat, mainly from the South, including William C. Oates of Atlanta, whose 15th Alabama regiment was defeated by Joshua Chamberlain at Little Round Top, Gettysburg, and Charles T. Crisp of Georgia, who later became Speaker of the House. Folded in quarters, tipped to sheet of Reagan biographical information, Fine.
