Zook, Samuel Kosciuszko (1821-1863), C.S.A. Brigadier General, KIA at Gettysburg, War date ALS, "S.K. Zook", 2+ pp, 7¾ x 10, Headquarters 57th N.Y.V., Camp California (Va.), Feb. 20, 1862. Letter to Dr. S. Oakley Vanderpool, Surgeon General of N.Y. regarding the promotion of Dr. McKim to the post of regimental surgeon. Zook adds a nine-line postscript mentioning that "Yesterday a Division of Rebels advanced to Fairfax Station…" and signing "S.K.Z.", Very Fine and rare.
