New York N.Y., 10¢ black (2), ample margins to just in at left, lovely shade and impression, tied by uncommon 7-bar grid of New York, matching "New-York Sep. 20" c.d.s. on 1849 folded cover to Newbern, N.C., implied forwarding to Beauford N.C. with blue "Newbern N.C. Sep. 20" (wrong date) c.d.s. and matching "Paid", "5" in circle handstamps, fresh and Fine, from the same correspondence as the cover from Bennett sale 252 lot 106, but one year later, which showed the forwarding to Beaufort N.C., this cover offered here was perhaps bundled with other letters, the top letter indicating the new address.
