St. Johnsbury Vt., 5¢ red brown (1), full margins to just touching at left, cancelled by light but complete strike of the red scarab, matching "St. Johnsbury Vt. Jun. 23" c.d.s. on 1849 folded letter to Buffalo N.Y., a Fine example of this very scarce 1847 fancy cancel; only eight 5¢ covers are recorded by Alexander.
