Railroad Correspondence; 5¢ red brown, 5¢ dark brown (1, 1a), a pair of covers, each with choice four margin single and addressed to a different railroad president: the first is Very Fine, with ample to large margins, rich bright color, tied by red square grid, matching "New-York Mar. 9" c.d.s. on immaculate circa 1848 folded cover to Saml. Merrick, President of the Penn. Rail Road, Philadelphia, the 2nd with large margins, huge at bottom, magnificent dark shade and superb impression, tied by partial blue "Philada. Pa. 5 Dec. 6" c.d.s., repeated at right, on fresh 1848 folded letter to Robert Schuyler, Pres. New York & Harlem R.R. Co. New York, railroad business content; Very Fine, together these make a wonderful first page for a railroad exhibit.
