Expertization: 1992 P.F. Certificate.

This cover is listed in the Alexander census as having one only one 10¢ stamp with the other missing. Yet the cover now has two 10¢ stamps with the P.F. Certificate stating "genuine usage … stamps have been removed, cleaned and reaffixed". Under high power magnification and ultra violet light, the "missing" 10c stamp shows every sign of belonging to the cover: the shade is right, the color and shape of the grid cancel are a perfect match and the "tie" is exact. One can certainly draw the conclusion that either the stamp was loose (perhaps inside the envelope); or someone had the missing stamp in their stock or collection and reunited the stamp with its cover.

One additional note of interest: there is a reference in the enclosed letter to the death of Zachary Taylor.
