U.S.A. red "Hamburg Packet, Dec 21, Paid 3" exchange office c.d.s., purple manuscript "16", backstamped two different Hamburg c.d.s.s. (14.12) with manuscript "wf 4½"; 18kr affected by small corner crease of envelope, otherwise Very Fine. Rate via Bremen was 6kr internal postage and 16kr (4½ sgr.) external. Scott 46, 41, 42. This letter arrived in Hamburg on December 14 too late for the N.G.L. steamer "Deutschland" (which sailed that day) so was held until the 21st and the N.G.L. "Bremen".
