Lot 3320
Caroline Islands 1914 (7 July) 5pf yacht postal card to Oldenburg, cancelled Truk c.d.s.s., delayed for nine years due to the onset of World War I in the Pacific (actually hidden under the floor of a church!), finally discovered in September of 1923, the card was forwarded to the Naval Postal Bureau in Berlin where an explanatory label (type Ic) was attached (manuscript date 20.9.1923), Fine and rare. Written by Otto Vorwerk of the heavy cruiser "Gneisenau".
