Lot 3336
German New Guinea 1891 (11 Apr.) large registered envelope from Stephansort to Förde, bearing 1875 2mk dull violet purple strip of three (V37d), 1880 50pf grey olive green pair (V44b) and 1889 20pf ultramarine (V48a) tied by small Stephansort c.d.s.s., backstamped Grevenbrück (30.6); both the 10" x 8½" linen-lined envelope and the stamps have some faults but an incredible 37-times franking sent by Superintendent Fritz Rose. The only recorded use of the 2mk dull violet purple from New Guinea.
