ONE OF ONLY TWO RECORDED OFFICIAL COVERS BEARING THE WASHINGTON D.C. PALMER & CLARK MACHINE CANCELLATION.
The Palmer & Clark machine cancellations were used during a short time period, approximately from April 1876 to January 1877. They are known used from Albany, Poughkeepsie, and Washington D.C. The other recorded official cover is dated Dec. 30 bearing a 6¢ Treasury on a legal size cover (Ex: Markovits, lot 3189).
