5¢ red brown (1), large margins to touching, pen cancelled and tied by large crayon "due 5" in red on double rate advertising envelope with 3-line corner crease at top for the "Marlboro Hotel… Temperance House", to Newbury, Vt., red "Boston 10 cts 11 Jan" c.d.s., line drawn beneath stamp and "10" in crayon written below this. The stamp shows discoloration in several places- possibly a twice used stamp that was caught by a clerk, the "10" representing the total due; cover creased and without flap otherwise Fine, an intriguing and unique usage.
