1873 (Jun. 18) Cincinnati, Ohio to Vevay, Indiana, legal size envelope bearing 1868 15¢ black, F. grill (98) and 1870 3¢ green (147) tied by blue Cincinnati duplex, stamp and cover faults, Fine mixed issue franking, six-times the 3¢ domestic letter rate.

This extremely late use proves that the grill experiment was not infallible. Under ultraviolet light, it shows that the 15¢ had a pen cancellation removed and therefore the stamp was reused.
