2¢ and 3¢Victoria plate essays by the CanadaBank Note Engraving and Printing Co. (Minuse & Pratt 36E-Ac, 37E-A), 2¢ deep green on India, 3¢ orange red on card, Very Fine.

These essays were submitted by CBNEPCo in hopes of winning the printing contract from the British American Bank Note Co., which came up for renewel in 1892. They won the contract with a bid substantially lower than BABNco. but before any stamps were produced CBNEPCo was bought out and absorbed by BABNCo. The 2¢ design was ultimately used for the 1896 2¢ U.P.U. postal card.
