Expertization: 1954 Dietz letter of authenticity.

In the letter of authenticity, Dietz says "Up to this time I had not seen another copy, although I had a strong intuition that it was authentic - strengthened by the fact that no one had ever assailed its status. In the following Catalogs edited and published by me, the Board of Students assisting in the revision and compilation, definitely assigned the Talladega to the group of Postmaster's Provisionals, where it has been ever since." Although the new Dietz catalog now lists this as a fake, we are not sure whether the three recorded examples have been adequately studied to determine this.

There are three recorded examples of the Talladega adhesive 5¢ blue on blue laid according to the Crown census:
Dec. 15, from Trafalgar Stamp Auctions
Dec. 17, stamp on small piece, the example offered here.
Dec. 27, stamp on small piece, H.R. Harmer 5 Mar. 1956, lot 462. Illustrated in the Crown census on page 334.
