A UNIQUE AND MOST IMPORTANT COMMEMORATIVE FIRST DAY COVER.

Provenance: Fisher, Martin
Experts now consider the 1¢ 5¢ and 10¢ combination first day cover bearing San Francisco Station D duplex cancellations a fake. The cancellations are back-dated collector fantasies as detailed in Alan Berkun's article in First Days.
The Scott catalog is currently listed as $21,000 based on the 1996 Fisher sale realization of $20,900. This cover brought $41,250 in the 2005 Martin sale, but the catalog value has not been updated.
Discussed in the Berkun and Savadge census, First Days, Jan. 15, 2005. p. 33.
