6d deep red-brown (SG 43), bright distinctive shade, full to large margins, tied by "Queens Redoubt" barred obliterator and large "New Zealand" double-ring datestamp (13.3) on 1864 pink envelope to the 12th Regiment, Victoria Barracks, Sydney, via Auckland (13.10), envelope a little roughly opened at top and part of flap at back missing, stamp lifted for inspection and hinged back, Very Fine usage from the Laver correspondence during the Maori War period.
