Buckingham Palace, London to Tobago, diplomatic letter (split at fold for exhibit) showing Royal Seal (wax removed) and "Victoria R" signature, it reads "Major General Henry Charles Darling…to appoint you to be Lieutenant Governor of our Island Tobago in America…Given at our Court at Buckingham Palace, this 28th day of February, 1838 in the First Year of our Reign", outer leaf with "Tobago, Recorded 21st April, 1838", accompanied by 1817 (9 Jul.) official local letter from Sir Frederick P. Robinson, K.C.B., Governor of Tobago, to the House of Assembly concerning maintenance and supply problems at Government House near Scarborough, Fine and rare official mail.
